Opening Credits

For those of you who don't know me, or who have forgotten, or ended up here by accident, my name is Peter Montine. I am a student at the University of Washington School of Law and I just finished my first year of classes. This summer I am a recipient of the Sampson Fellowship, which sends law students from UW to Dublin to work in public interest law.

I am going to be working for 10 weeks at a place called the Northside Community Law Centre, which provides mediation and legal services for low-income people in northern Dublin. Joining me are Kendra Rychlick, who I flew out with, and Megan Crenshaw, who will join us about a week later.

I’m writing this blog because I wanted a way to keep track of my adventures, and to let other people keep track of them too. I’ll be here for a while and I need a way to organize my thoughts and experiences. Hopefully anyone reading this will get some entertainment value from my exploits, if only by laughing at how ridiculously American (read: ignorant) I am. And I would be thrilled if anyone reading posted comments on my entries!

One of my very good friends told me I should only write a blog if it is going to be funny. I hope I do not disappoint him.
