Life on the Edge (Weekend 8)

Last weekend I took at trip to Limerick, the Cliffs of Mohor, the Burren, and Kilvara. Kendra didn't come with because she is going there this weekend with her mom, but Kendra's sister Emily did come with Megan and me. So let me take you on a little picture tour! Our first stop was Limerick:

BONUS: The 10 Levels of Street-Crossing in Dublin

The way that the people of an area treat the concept of crossing the street tells a lot about that culture. In Seattle people generally wait their turn to cross, but you can tell they're not happy about it. In New York City you use the crosswalk at your own peril - go ahead, but be aware that cars won't slow down for you. But crossing the street in Dublin is different from any city I've ever spent a significant amount of time in. It's a sport, and these people are serious about it.

And We're Back! (Weeks 7 & 8)

It's been a crazy couple weeks. Two weeks ago I was in New York for my grandma's funeral and last week I was trying to get back in the swing of things here in Dublin. A Sad but Joyous Occasion (Week 6)

Last Friday I found out that my Grandma passed away. I flew out from Dublin on Tuesday to be in New York City, the city where she lived her whole life. The wake is on Wednesday and the funeral is on Thursday. It's always tough to lose a loved one, especially someone who has had such an impact on the person you have become. But my grandma's love lives on in the family she leaves behind.

The Halfway Point (Week 5)

This week was my fifth week working here in Dublin. Since my program is 10 weeks long, that means I'm halfway done with my work here. That's pretty insane. In some ways I feel like I'm still just getting the hang of everything. On the other hand, I feel like I've been here in Dublin for months. But either way, there's no turning back now. It's a really strange feeling to describe. But this is what it feels like:

Adventure to Blarney Castle (Weekend 4)

Last Saturday we took a tour bus to see Blarney Castle. It was a day trip but Cork is pretty far so we had to leave very early.
