Last weekend I took at trip to Limerick, the Cliffs of Mohor, the
Burren, and Kilvara. Kendra didn't come with because she is going there this
weekend with her mom, but Kendra's sister Emily did come with Megan and
me. So let me take you on a little picture tour! Our first stop was
Limerick:
| Our royal carriage. |
Found this gem in the rest stop bathroom.
Jesus wants you to buy scratch tickets! |
| St. John's Castle in Limerick. |
| No wait, this is the castle. I'm not sure what that other thing was. |
| Definitely not the castle. |
The Treaty Stone. The treaty signed on it was quickly broken,
so people say that "All it's good for is getting on a horse." |
| People hold grudges here for a long time. |
After that, we went to the Cliffs of Mohor:
| These guys. |
| Whoa. |
| Of course there's a castle. |
Please note the distance between the walkway and the edge. This will be important soon. |
| The non-cliff side, holding its own. |
Okay, pause. So there was a walkway that went along the cliffs, but left a 10-foot gap between the walkway and the edge (for safety reasons, presumably). But this buffer zone made taking good pictures somewhat difficult. As we went along the path, we saw other people who had crossed over the wall and were standing in this "buffer zone."
Ignoring everything our mothers had told us about peer pressure, we followed suit and crossed over the wall.
| The edge of the world. |
| Only slightly scary. |
| Don't look down! |
| Oops. |
| One of the most amazing places I've ever been. |
Next up was the Burren. It's hard to describe but imagine if all the soil in an area was washed away, exposing the rocks underneath. Here are some pictures to do a better job of explaining:
| Kinda like this, in all directions. |
| Like if the Moon needed it lawn cut. |
Our tour guide told us all to not go climbing. The rest of the tour group obeyed. |
| Ancient land, full of natural beauty? LET'S MAKE SOME ROCK TOWERS! |
Our last site stop was at an old abandoned abbey out in the countryside:
| Off in the distance... |
| It seems that the architects forgot something... |
Our trip ended with a stop in the tiny harbor town of Kilvana:
And with that, we made our way back to Dublin. This was an amazing trip that I am so glad we made. If you're ever here, make sure to make it out here! Hope you enjoyed this entry!
