Adventure to Blarney Castle (Weekend 4)

Last Saturday we took a tour bus to see Blarney Castle. It was a day trip but Cork is pretty far so we had to leave very early.

This was our tour bus, along with 12 other travelers. "Cozy" is such a strong word.
But it was definitely worth it to see some amazing Irish landmarks and just to get out of the city. This was the first time I had left Dublin since I got here and it was really nice to get out of our rut and see the beautiful countryside.Without further ado, here are the pictures from our trip!

The highlights are below. For the entire albums you can go to my Facebook page.

The Castle at Rock of Cashel! Not Blarney Castle. They are different.

The Druids were big on scaffolding.

Inside the Castle.

The neighborhood around Rock of Cashel.
These are the grounds around Blarney Castle.
Yarn Graffiti.
THIS is Blarney Castle!

Eyeballs in the garden. Your guess is as good as mine.

View from the top of the Castle.

This is called a Murder Hole.
Blarney House.

Top o' the Castle to ya!
This is down in the Blarney Gardens.

Naturally-occurring pottery.

Those color blobs are balls of yarn.

The Wishing Steps! Walk up & down with your eyes closed and you get a wish!

And like every good Irish trip, it ended in a pub.

  1. Those buildings are absolutely gorgeous. Loved the Mary statue! I'm glad you get to go beyond Dublin to see this kind of stuff every once in a while. Also..did they tell you what happened in the murder hole? I'm intrigued.

    1. Getting out of the city was amazing!

They used murder holes to pour boiling oil and rocks down onto the oncoming enemies. They were on top of the castle and pointed straight down to the entrances.

Is it strange that I knew that before coming here?
