On Tuesday I tried getting a later bus than Monday,
and still got to work on time. I was already figuring out exactly how
late I could sleep in without being late, and it was looking pretty good. My
first project was really cool because it gave me an opportunity to learn
about the place I was working.
This law center was made by an
independent organization as a pilot for a more community-oriented legal
service, after many complaints about the Irish government's failure to
provide accessible legal services to the poorer communities of Ireland.
Even though it has been very successful, there is only one other
community law center in all of Ireland (which is where Kendra is
working), and it was opened much more recently.
I also got
to know Megan, the other American intern, better. She's going to be a
3L at Pace Law School near New York City. She's already been here about a
month doing other legal internships, and would only be at NCLC for a
week. Her and I went to get lunch together at the mall and chatted about
the difference between American and Irish cultures. And then we argued
about which coast of the United States is better. Obviously I won.
Kendra
and I had planned on using Tuesday evening to go back into the City
Center of Dublin, but by the end of the day we were both wiped out
again, so we postponed it until Wednesday. We also started planning with
my good friend James who was coming on Thursday. We gave him directions
on how to get to our dorm - details I wish we had when we had got here.
